Description
Potassium Phosphate, Dibasic, occurs as a colorless or white, granular salt that is deliquescent when exposed to moist air. One gram is soluble in about 3 mL of water. It is insoluble in alcohol. The pH of a 1% solution is about 9.
Applications
Dipotassium Hydrogen Phosphate is mainly used in medicine (culture of penicillin and streptomycin) industry, and can also be used as a de-ironing agent and pH adjuster for talc powder. Also used as a water treatment agent. In the food industry, it is used as a raw material for the preparation of alkaline water for pasta products, a fermentation agent, a flavoring agent, and a leavening agent.
