Description
Sulfaguanidine is a white or almost white, fine crystalline powder. It is very slightly soluble in water, slightly soluble in acetone, very slightly soluble in ethanol (96 per cent), practically insoluble in methylene chloride. It dissolves in dilute solutions of mineral acids.
Application
Sulfaguanidine is a sulfonamide drug for the following purposes:
1) The preferred drug for the treatment of leprosy.
2) For intestinal antibiotic infection, such as bacillary dysentery enteritis, can also be used to prevent infection before intestinal surgery.
3) In the pharmaceutical industry, it is generally used as an important raw material for sulfadiazines such as SM2 and SD.
