Nitrofurazone is a yellow or brownish-yellow, crystalline powder. It is very slightly soluble in water, slightly soluble in ethanol (96 per cent).
Nitrofurazone is only used as a disinfectant antiseptic in clinical use. It can be used for skin and mucous membrane infections, such as suppurative otitis media, suppurative dermatitis, acute and chronic rhinitis, burns, ulcers, etc.
