|Product name:||Salicylic Acid|
Salicylic acid is a white or almost white, crystalline powder or white or colourless, acicular crystals. It is slightly soluble in water, freely soluble in ethanol (96 per cent), sparingly soluble in methylene chloride.
Salicylic acid is an important raw material for fine chemicals such as medicines, perfumes, dyes and rubber additives. In the pharmaceutical industry, salicylic acid itself is used as a disinfectant antiseptic for local keratin hyperplasia and skin mold infections. As a pharmaceutical intermediate, it is used in the production of acetylsalicylic acid, sodium salicylate, salicylamide, niclosamide, phenyl salicylate, ethyl p-hydroxybenzoate, hydrazine salicylate, sulfasalazine, etc. In the dye industry, it is used to produce direct yellow GR, direct fast ash BL, direct fast brown RT, acidic medium brown G, acid medium yellow GG and other dyes. Various esters of salicylic acid can be used as a spice.
