Griseofulvin is a white or yellowish-white, microfine powder, the particles of which generally have a maximum dimension of up to 5 µm, although larger particles that may exceed 30 µm may occasionally be present. It is practically insoluble in water, freely soluble in dimethylformamide and in tetrachloroethane, slightly soluble in anhydrous ethanol and in methanol.
In medicine, Griseofulvin is suitable for the treatment of various tinea diseases, including tinea capitis, tinea whiskers, tinea corporis, tinea cruris, tinea pedis and tinea nail.
In agriculture, Griseofulvin can control plant diseases.
